Minardi Considers Retiring from Formula One

Sunday September 12th, 1999

Minardi is considering leaving Formula One at the end of the 1999 season, having not scored a single WC point in nearly four seasons.

Team boss Giancarlo Minardi told Reuters' reporter, Merissa Marr, that he is currently in talks over possibly selling the team, but is hoping that somehow financial aid will show up to rescue the team. "It's tough always being last and it's difficult to work under those conditions," Minardi said today, after both his cars failed to finish at Monza. "We're in talks with Spanish company Telefonica as well as others with the view to either selling out or finding a new supporter. Anything is possible."
