Michael Schumacher will not return to racing just yet. The injured Ferrari driver was examined today in a Geneva Clinic by five doctors - two orthopaedists, two radiologists and one general surgeon - who all unanimously told him he is not physically ready to return to his racing car. "The said the medical risks were too high," explained Schumacher's spokesman, Heiner Buchinger.
Schumacher was hoping to be allowed to return to testing as of tomorrow, at Ferrari's private track in Fiorano. He did say the chances he will be allowed to do that are slim, and he further clarified that even if he was to return to testing, it would not mean that he is back to participating in races. However, after today he will return to do neither in the next few weeks.
However, Ferrari spokesman added that, in order to improve bone healing, the consultant surgeons have decided to perform a partial hardware removal of the distal tibia and that the rehabilitation programme will start again on the next day after surgery. This might allow Michael Schumacher to make his comeback at Monza.
