This morning, at the request of FIA and in collaboration with ENI and the Monza Autodromo, which hosts the Italian GP, Ferrari carried out tests to evaluate the characteristics of a new type of quick draining asphalt developed by the Italian petrochemical group. Driving two F 300, Eddie Irvine and Luca Badoer did several runs down the high speed straight, in close proximity to one another.
Both cars were fitted with on-board cameras to film the effects of the new surface on visibility for the driver of the following car. Both Badoer and Irvine were in favour of the possibility of using this type of surface on the track. Tomorrow, the Irish driver will be at Barcelona to start a test session in preparation for the Brazilian GP scheduled for 11th April.
