Jackie Stewart has told of his irritation at members of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association who are careless about safety issues in the sport, and had these comments:

"The GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers' Association) go to a circuit and ask for changes, but they do it on a Thursday or Friday immediately before a Grand Prix and that is not fair. If they point out something valid and it is leaked to the press, then the organizers and the governing body will be blamed. If they are not given the time to make changes, how can you put them in that position?", said Stewart. He went on to complement Schumacher, Hill and Coulthard for their positive attitude towards safety."
