Williams' technical director Patrick Head has given his full support to BMW. The German car manufacturer, who will be the engine supplier for the team in 2000, has had some problems with the first run of the new engine.

There were also some rumours that it will be underpowered and overweight. Head stated however that this will not be the problem: "The biggest problem for BMW in the year 2000 will be achieving reliability rather than performance... reliability is down to all sorts of meticulous controls and procedures in-house rather than engineering design."
