The Michael Schumacher Website informs today Ferrari-Marlboro has signed a contract with PPG Industries, in an attempt to make the Ferrari cars lighter.

PPG Industries supplies products for manufacturing, construction, automotive, chemical processing and numerous other world industries. Established in 1883, the Pittsburgh-based company makes protective and decorative coatings, flat glass, fabricated glass products, continuous-strand fiber glass products, and industrial and specialty chemicals.

PPG Industries will help Ferrari to reduce the weight of the car by supplying them with a newly developed paint, which is lighter. If PPG can get the chassis even lighter, the Ferrari team can put more extra weight in certain areas of the car to improve stability through corners.

PPG Industries has a rich history in motorsport. They sponsor the American NASCAR and CART series. The Pittsburg based companies logo will appear on the Ferrari in the near future.
