In 1996, organizers of the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola were fined after a similar incident of fans storming on the track occurred as in Hungary on Sunday. Furthermore, organizers were warned by the FIA that any repeat incidents could lose San Marino the GP.

Hungarian Grand Prix authorities now wait for a statement from the FIA regarding the thousands of fans who stormed past security and fences before most cars were off the track.
