The FIA International Court of Appeal has upheld the original decision of the Stewards at the British Grand Prix allowing Michael Schumacher to retain his victory after McLaren protested unsuccessfully that the German's post race stop-go penalty was illegal, regardless of the Stewards delay in informing Ferrari of the penalty.

An FIA statement held to their previous ruling and said in a statement: "The results of the 1998 British Grand Prix are therefore final."

No comment has been made by McLaren as of yet. A Ferrari spokesman said, "This is a clear result and we can now look forward to the rest of the season."
