Eddie Jordan is angry that the X-wings were banned last week because of the possible safety hazard - a wing could hit the drivers head in a crash..

He stated: "The cost implications of such a ruling can be quite severe."

The Jordan team have spend US$ 83.000 dollars on the development of the new wings.

Ferrari will use new exhaust system

The Ferrari team have announced they will use the new exhaust system this weekend. The tests in Barcelona last week proved the system to be reliable enough to use in race conditions.

A Ferrari spokesman said: "We will definitely be using it. The new exhaust is now fitted to both Michael's and Eddie Irvine's cars, and the spare will also be modified at the weekend. We are encouraged by its performance and are very happy with its reliability after completing more than 800 kilometres of testing."

Benetton Mecachrome

The Benetton team have announced that negotiations will start between them and Mecachrome to deliver engines in 1999. Williams and Benetton, who both use the Mecachrome engines this year, have stated they are not pleased with the development. This will surely be one of the issues in the negotiations.
