The Arrows team have presented their new car today: the Arrows A19. They will be the second team in Formula One to race with their own engines - Ferrari is the other. Rumours were, for some time now, that Yamaha would stay but the team has now confirmed their withdrawal.
The engine team will include former Cosworth designer Geoff Goddard and engine manufacturer Brian Hart.
John Barnard, who has also worked for McLaren and Ferrari, designed the mainly back livery car. He stated: "It has been a long time since I have done a car with a completely new engine, gearbox and chassis, to completely new regulations."
Team boss Tom Walkinshaw stated about his new driver Mika Salo, who replaces Damon Hill: "I rate Mika Highly or else he would not be on the team. We felt the pressure of Damon Hill last year. This season the team will be able to focus and get back to the basics."
