Michael Schumacher has tested a new version of the V10 at Monza (Italy). The session was cut short on lap 44 of the planned 53 when the engine was suddenly loosing power. Schumacher went into the pits for a check-up. The Ferrari team decided it was better to end the session here to avoid the engine from braking drown. Schumacher posted a fastest lap of 1:27.814.

Schumacher was still very positive about the new engine. He said after the tests: "I hope I will be able to use the new gearbox in the Nurburgring Grand Prix, where I think I could get the podium. I am not really worried about our situation: the main problem comes from the delay of the F 310 being ready. Now, we are working very hard and the car is going to be fitted with a lot of new solutions."
