2003 Qualifying Differentials

By Marcel Borsboom, Netherlands
Atlas F1 Magazine Writer

With six qualifying sessions completed for 2003, the differentials are once again on a roll! Let's see which drivers deserve bragging rights.

Brazilian Notables

  • Setting the Record Straight: the Brazilian Grand Prix was Mark Webber's - as well as Jaguar's - best grid position (third).

  • The McLaren pair: A rare situation has happened this weekend - with Kimi Raikkonen outqualifying David Coulthard on Friday by 0.048 seconds and Coulthard repaying Raikkonen by outqualifying him on Saturday by the exact same gap, the average differential for the pair is zero.

  • Going Down! The elevator is starting to show trends, and strangely enough, 12 drivers have thus far performed worse on Saturday than on friday, and only 7 did better. (See below)

    The Elevator

We've decided to also keep track of the position changes between Friday and Saturday. We're not yet sure if it means anything, but we'll keep an eye on the results for the time being...
