Grand Prix team boss Eddie Jordan has called for the Formula One Commission not to back down on plans for radical changes when it votes on several proposed ideas in a meeting at London Heathrow airport today.

Nine original proposals were revealed at the Japanese Grand Prix two weeks ago, but it is thought that there have now been several new ideas thrown into the melting point. Jordan believes ideas such as driver swapping and weight penalties are not needed, but insists something must be done to save the sport from reducing crowd figures and television viewers.

"People don't want to see handicapping or strange changes but something has to be done," he told the BBC. "Doing nothing is clearly not an option here. We have to give the sport a spring clean at least - and a big one at that.

"Life and entertainment changes on a very regular basis. We need to be aggressive but not be too radical but at the same time be radical enough that it makes a real impact."

The 26-strong board, comprising of team owners, promoters, sponsors and suppliers, will discuss options designed to make the sport more exciting and are expected to come to an immediate and firm conclusion on future steps.
