Disappointing Day for Arrows Drivers

Saturday March 30th, 2002

Disappointing Day for Arrows DriversEnrique Bernoldi was a disappointed man after failing to shine in front of his home crowd in Saturday's qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

"Naturally I am disappointed to be so low down the grid in front of my home crowd," said Bernoldi, who set the 21st fastest time, only ahead of Minardi's Alex Yoong.

"We were able to steadily improve the car throughout this morning's practice sessions and qualifying itself but we just couldn't get the balance right for Interlagos. Let's hope we have a better day tomorrow."

Both Bernoldi, racing a Formula One car for the second time at the Interlagos circuit, and teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen struggled with the balance of their Cosworth-powered A23 chassis, with the German completing a hard day for the Leafield-based squad by posting the 18th quickest time.

"We couldn't achieve the necessary balance today," said Frentzen, who has a 12th place in Malaysia two weeks ago as his best result this season. "Missing most of the second practice session this morning after stalling doesn't help as that is the time you do your fine tuning for qualifying.

"We were basically fighting against understeer and oversteer in each of the four runs. We need to analyse why we have this problem more here than we did in Malaysia or Australia."
