Senna's Williams Released by Italian Authorities

Tuesday March 26th, 2002

The Williams car involved in Ayrton Senna's fatal accident at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994 has been released by Italian authorities.

Three-time World Champion Senna was killed after crashing the FW16 chassis at the Imola circuit eight years ago, and after investigations into the cause of the Brazilian's death, the car has now been released.

The Italian prosecution chose to release the car after court proceedings have been completed and no new evidence can be taken from it.

Williams' technical director Patrick Head and former chief designer Adrian Newey were acquitted of any blame in November 1999.
