Jaguar Wind Tunnel Set to Start Working

Tuesday March 26th, 2002

Jaguar Racing team principal Niki Lauda has revealed the team's new wind tunnel will be up and running next week.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit have struggled with the aerodynamics on their new R3 car after being forced to use a wind tunnel in California.

But after ditching plans to switch their disappointing new car for an older machine they are hoping dramatic improvements from the new Bicester tunnel will help move them up the grid.

"There is an enormous amount of work being undertaken by just about everyone connected with Jaguar Racing," said Lauda. "Our new wind tunnel in Bicester comes on-line next week and then we should be far better placed to generate solutions than we have been in the past.

"We are working on some ideas right now and after Brazil we'll hit the test track again in an effort to better understand the way forward from here."

Eddie Irvine finished in a surprise fourth place at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, but the team are under no illusions and know they must improve.
