McNish Criticises Bernoldi over Start Move

Sunday March 17th, 2002

Formula One new-boy Allan McNish hit out at Enrique Bernoldi after the Malaysian Grand Prix, branding him a "dodgem driver"

McNish recorded his first finish for Toyota as he ended the Sepang race in seventh with a pitstop problem costing him sixth place and a maiden points finish. But the Scot turned his attentions to Arrows' Brazilian driver Bernoldi afterwards and blasted his on-track antics as dangerous for the sport.

"I had a problem with (Enrique) Bernoldi at the start," McNish told BBC Radio 5 Live. "He seems to think that he is driving a dodgem car and at 200mph that isn't clever."

Bernoldi, starting from 16th place, retired from the race on lap 21 with a fuel pick-up problem.
