Pre-season testing came to and end on Friday as the McLaren duo formed by Mika Hakkinen and test driver Alexander Wurz completed the final day of preparations at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, with the Austrian edging the two-time world champion.
Both drivers completed a race distance today, in a bid to improve the poor reliability of the new McLaren-Mercedes MP4-16, with Wurz doing 78 laps with a best time of 1:19.914, while Hakkinen completed 75 and was only six hundredths of a second slower.
However, the problems continued for the Woking-based team and Wurz suffered an engine failure during the morning, while Hakkinen lost some due to a gearbox problem.
