Wednesday March 1st, 2000

Williams' Jenson Button set the fastest lap time during the final day of testing at Silverstone today. Button clocked a quickest time of 1:26.38 during his 47 laps of the circuit, ahead of David Coulthard's McLaren Mercedes MP4-15 and the Jordan Mugen-Honda EJ10 of Jarno Trulli.

"While we must not read too much into lap times at test sessions, I am obviously very pleased indeed to be on the pace," said a satisfied Button. "The team have done a great job in aiding my development over the past few weeks and now its down to me in Melbourne. I will give my best, but we must remember that this is a long term programme."
