Thursday January 20th, 2000 David Coulthard set the fastest lap on the fourth day of testing at Barcelona, where McLaren joined Jaguar, Williams and Benetton for testing in preparations for the 2000 season. Coulthard drove two different 1999 MP4-14s which were fitted with different 2000 components, including engine, transmission and exhaust. He ran 28 laps in total and his fastest time was 1:22.086 - a few tenths faster than second man Johnny Herbert. Williams had another lackluster day when Bruno Junqueira took the car out only to be towed back into the pits with a blown engine on his outlap. Following that, both Junqueira and Jenson Button were unable to run for the rest of the day and did not set a timed lap. Testing at Barcelona continues tomorrow.
