Barrichello Alone at Mugello with the F1-2000

Saturday February 19th, 2000

Ferrari continued testing at the Mugello track today, with Rubens Barrichello alone, driving the F1-2000 for the first time on that track.

Testing began at 09:20am. Barrichello concentrated chiefly on finding the best set-up as well as doing some aerodynamic testing. He ran a total of 59 laps, his best time 1:26.013 - over a second slower than Michael Schumacher's track record, 1:24.850, which he set yesterday.

At the end of the test, Barrichello said: "I am happy with my first day in the new car, even though I have not yet got the set-up quite right. My performance in this car is better than in the F399, but it is difficult to make a true comparison, given that it was warmer today."

Testing ended at 18:00 and will continue tomorrow with Barrichello at the wheel of the F1-2000.
