Williams will begin testing with tyre supplier Michelin as soon as next month, Patrick Head revealed. Michelin are set to enter Formula One in 2001, and will have already signed a deal to supply BMW-Williams.

"We will establish a small separate team to look after Michelin tire testing with one of the old FW21Bs," Head said. "It will probably be operated out of the former BMW Motorsport building at our headquarters at Grove. We do not know yet whether we will be able to take part in any of the official FIA tests, but it is certainly our intention to test at Grand Prix venues after the 2000 races have taken place."
