Benetton's Giancarlo Fisichella clocked the fastest time on the second day of testing at Barcelona. The Italian completed a full, trouble-free race distance with the B200, setting a best time of 1:22.45. "We were able to get a good look at the performance of the car as we covered so many kilometres and we made some real progress on the set-up," Fisichella said. "We still have work to do, but we are certainly heading in the right direction. This was a fantastic day. I wish all the sessions were as problem free."
Benetton were joined today by Arrows and Jordan. Despite a late start due to misty weather, Heinz Harald Frentzen completed 58 laps in a best time of 1:23.12 - the second fastest of the day. A minor electrical problem interrupted a series of long runs in the afternoon, but by repositioning the electrical box, the problem was soon resolved.
Third fastest was Alex Wurz, driving the B199, who set a time of 1:23.25.
