Benetton Formula have signed up Mike Gascoyne, currently technical director at Jordan Grand Prix, to join the team next year.

In a five year contract beginning in 2001, Mike will join and strengthen the existing technical team with his proven expertise and extensive experience.

Managing director of Benetton, Flavio Briatore, commented on the addition: "Renault have given me the task to build a team that can win the world championship. We have a good team here but I need to add the best of the best to make it strong. Mike falls into this category."

Pat Symonds, Technical Director at Benetton is also happy at Gascoyne's signing. "I have known and respected Mike for many years and am delighted that he will be joining us to strengthen our technical department. This signing is part of our long term strategy to create a world championship winning team. I thoroughly look forward to working with him," said Symonds.
