2000 Calendar Announced; Belgian GP Reinstated

As expected, the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa was reinstated to the 2000 season calendar, after the Belgian Government decided to exempt the Formula One race from the state's ban on Tobacco advertising in sporting events.

In the World Council meeting a couple of days ago in Paris, all the dates for next year were approved, although only in 21 days will the FIA announce the final insertion of which Grand Prix is held at each date. Furthermore, to avoid speculation following the sale of the Ricard circuit in France, the World Motor Sport Council confirmed that any round of the FIA Formula One World Championship taking place in France in the years 2000 to 2004 inclusive will be at the Magny-Cours circuit (subject to observance of commercial agreements).

The approved calendar for the 2000 FIA Formula One World Championship is:
