After spending two days at Fiorano, Mika Salo is taking his time in getting used to his his new role as a Ferrari driver.
"There are lots of new things in the car that I have to learn and it takes time but I'm sure I will get them," said Salo. "Of course, for me it's a difficult situation sitting in Michael's car - it's very unfortunate what happened to him and I hope he gets better quickly." Salo also said he hopes to have a chance and talk to Schumacher before he races his car for the first at Austria next week. "I've got a lot questions to ask him," said the Finn.
Salo has participated in 71 Formula One races for Lotus, Tyrell, Arrows and BAR. The stand-in at Ferrari will give him a chance to prove his skills in a competitive car, and he knows it. "I know this is a good opportunity - all drivers dream of driving a Ferrari," he said. "Like yesterday, when I was lying in my bed, I was just thinking and just smiling and I couldn't stop smiling."
Salo is scheduled for testing throughout this week, however he does have one itinerary clash: "They said I'd be testing until Saturday but I said I have a little problem on Saturday - I'm getting married!" he said.
