Jordan driver, Damon Hill, once again criticized the current regulations of Formula One - specifically the introduction of grooved tires - saying the sport is "going down a blind alley." Hill sounded his thoughts in a press conference after today's free practice.
"We should go no further in reducing the grip from the tyres," said Hill, today, "The cars are very frustrating to drive. It is not fun anymore and we simply cannot continue like this." Hill stressed that all drivers feel the same, as they all face the same problems.
"We are far too dependent on downforce at the moment," he said. "For example, last week here in testing I felt I had found a really good set-up for my car and I was very happy with it. But today, with the cross winds we have, it is not the same at all. That is because we are so dependent on the aerodynamics now."
Williams Technical director also joined Hill's criticizm, and said he knows for a fact that "Bridgestone are being asked to make lousy tyres." He said that the current regulations are not the right way of reducing the grip for the cars, that they in fact "strangle them." "They are not doing it right," said Head.
