Contrary to suggestons that he has sold his ownership interest in the British American Racing Formula One team, Jerry Forsythe has confirmed that he owns fifteen per cent of BAR and is interested in expanding his share in the new F1 team. Based in Inverness, a northern suburb of Chicago, Forsythe owns Indeck Power Systems which builds power stations around the world for all types of building projects. He also own his own CART Champ car and Toyota/Atlantic teams, both sponsored by Player's cigarettes, and recently owned the Toyota/Atlantic series before selling the racing series to CART earlier this year.

"I'm looking to increase my interest in BAR," Forsythe said. "If the opportunity arises I will acquire a larger interest." He added that his shares in the team were bought from Craig Pollock's, "Mt Eagle entity, and amounts to fifteen per cent ownership of BAR." Pollock is the primary owner of the new team in company with Reynard who are designing and building the chassis and providing much of the infrastructure for the team.

Forsythe said he met for half an hour last week with Bernie Ecclestone at Mercedes-Benz's 'Stars & Cars' motor sport festival in Germany. "We discussed my interest in the team and Formula One, and talked about Formula One in general and his hopes for it here in the United States at Indianapolis," commented Forsythe.

Forsythe said he will attend, "a number of (F1) races next year," and reiterated that he is interested in generating a cross-over in engineering and driving talent between his CART team and BAR. "I'd like to provide opportunities for drivers and engineers as well as generating a transfer of engineering between CART and F1. I'm sure it can work both ways," he remarked.
