Yesterday, the final day of testing at Silverstone, saw Stewart's Rubens Barrichello a surprising first, topping the time sheet ahead of Jacques Villeneuve and Damon Hill, amongst others.

Most teams focused on last preperations for the final race next week, at Suzuka. During the morning, the benetton team focussed on set-up and tyre work, whereas Jordan's Hill concentrated on for the Japanese Grand Prix. In the afternoon, work focussed on pit-stop practice using fuel and a full crew. Jordan's Hill worked on the engine in preparation for qualifying in Japan with no problems to report. The car's aerodynamics and mechanical set-up were also worked on throughout the test today. Hill's session was held up slightly in the afternoon due to a wheel-bearing problem. Damon also spun the car and stalled but luckily no damage was caused.
