The Ferrari team split its testing efforts today with Michael Schumacher running tests at the Mugello track and Luca Badoer at Fiorano; Eddie Irvine was absent. Along with Schumacher ran Jean Alesi for the Sauber team.

At Mugello the weather was cloudy in morning and then sunny. Testing began at ten with Schumacher working on the set-up and the aerodynamics of the F300. In the afternoon, he concentrated on tyre testing. He ran a total of 76 laps with a best time of 1:27.611. Alesi ran 39 laps with a best time of 1.28.940. The day ended at 18:15.

Meanwhile, testing began about 10:30 at the sunny Fiorano track. Luca Badoer made some changes to the set up of his F300 and also shook down some components. He did a total of 98 timed laps with a best time of 1:01.962s. Testing ended at 19:00.

On Wednesday, testing and shake down work will continue with Michael Schumacher at Fiorano and Eddie Irvine at Mugello.
