The silly season is now in full flow. Here is the latest driver news (we cannot confirm any of these at the moment):
- Reigning Champ Car Champion Alex Zanardi is said to have signed a 2 year contract for Williams starting in 1999
- Current World Champion Jacques Villeneuve is alledged to have been given a deadline of the middle of next week to decide if he wants to stay at Williams. Villeneuve has denied a move to BAR, but still seems likely to move.
- Reports in the British press have suggested that Damon Hill has been offered a place at BAR for 1999 to partner his former team mate Villeneuve. Hill denies this and looks set to stay at Jordan next season.
- Juan Pablo Montoya, who is currently leading the International F3000 Championship, has said that he is sure he will be racing in F1 in 1999 and has offers from teams other than Williams.
