The problems on the track were: Salo, Hakkinen and Takagi blew up an engine. Panis had problems with the fuel pump.

Eddie Irvine has announced that it is not likely that he will stay with Ferrari in 1999. He stated he doesn't like being second best next to Michael Schumacher and that there are other options.
