The Tyrrell team is looking for improvement. Ricardo Rosset did not manage to qualify for the last Grand Prix although Tora Takagi is often looking strong, especially in qualifying. The team tested a lower mounted version of the Ford V10 and noticed an improvement. The team stated: "It was definitely a lot better. Rosset felt a bit more rear grip because the engine is lower, and that reduces a weight transfer in cornering."

Verstappen remains 'unofficial'

Jos Verstappen remains the unofficial test-driver for the Benetton team. He tested on the Jerez circuit with Giancarlo Fisichella last week. He needs to bring in some money, however, if he is to be the test-driver. Benetton boss Dave Richards stated: "Jos is effectively the test driver now. The contract is not yet done, but we will use him as much as we can because we know him and he does a good job, but we are still looking to sort out a deal with him."

M. Schumacher: "We can win at Monaco"

Ferrari have tested heavily last week on two circuits: Magny-Cours and Maranello. Ferrari seems to be only team to get close to the McLarens, and with Monaco next, Michael Schumacher thinks he, or Ferrari, can win.

He stated that with the new Goodyear tyre and the twisty circuit they have a good chance: "The circuit suits us. And with the improved tyres, we will have a chance to win."

Concorde Agreement

Reports say Tom Walkinshaw is willing to sign the Concorde Agreement. He did not sign the agreement because he did not agree with the paragraph that stated teams were not allowed to chance their name. This dispute has been going on for two years now.
