Bridgestone is eager to fight; Audi to enter F1?; French engineers' rental used by police

Bridgestone feels the tyre war going on now with Goodyear is good for publicity. That is why they have stated that they feel it is a shame Goodyear will quit at the end of this season - although Goodyear may stay if they win the championship. The Formula One boss of Bridgestone Hiroshi Yasukawa, stated: "We are disappointed that Goodyear has announced plans to withdraw and we hope they change their mind."


Audi to enter F1?

The rumour has it that Volkswagen is considering entering Formula One with their Audi division - Maybe with the take-over of Cosworth. Than all three German car manufacturers will be involved: Mercedes is currently with the McLaren team and BMW is planning a return with Williams in 2000.

Ford said this weekend that they would not switch from the struggling Stewart team to Benetton.


French engineers' rental used by police

Three engineers of the French Carbone Industry firm were kicked out of the front seats of their rental car while driving through the Brazilian countryside by the local police. The police later explained they needed their car - it was faster - to chase drug runners, who had past the Frenchmen some time before. The Frenchmen could only sit and watch the chase from the back seats.
