The Jordan team have announced that they have no interest in signing Damon Hill for next season. The team will continue with both drivers.

Hakkinen OK after testing crash

Mika Hakkinen spun of the Monza (Italy) track at High-speed, during the tests there, with smoke coming from his McLaren. The Fin could walk away unhurt but his car was badly damaged. The mechanics have not found the cause of accident yet.

Hakkinen commented: "I was doing over 300km/h."

Jean Alesi was fastest with Ralf Schumacher second.

Michael Schumacher tested the 046/2 engine again but he was not completely happy with the performance of the car: "We're working on a lot of different solutions for the set-up. It's difficult to make comparisons on today's times, both for ours and the others drivers, because of the different fuel loads in the cars. We're still lacking a little something in terms of top speed. And we've got to work on that, and improve the aerodynamics of the car at high speed."
