Michael Schumacher shook down the three F310B's to be used in the Melbourne Grand Prix on the Fiorano (Italy) circuit today. The German drove 7 laps in his car (1m 01.55s.), 11 laps in Irvine's (1m 01.83s.) and 16 in the T-car (1m 01.35s.).

Tests

Damon Hill tested the Arrows on the Silverstone (England) circuit today. He showed himself not very happy with the way the tests had gone and after the technical problems of today: "Testing has been a bit of a struggle. We haven't got any more time now so we just have to pick up our things and go to Australia and hope for the best."

Jacques Villeneuve tested the Williams-Renault on the Magny-Cours (France) circuit. He drove 127 laps with a best time of 1m 14.2s.

Tyrrell to be sponsored by ICL

The Tyrrell team is going to be sponsored by ICL, an information technology company. The livery was present on the three cars during the shake down test on the Silverstone (England) circuit today.

Harvey Postlethwaite said about the way things are going: "In these early races, reliability is absolutely critical. The mileage we have achieved this winter has enabled us to get most of the reliability bugs out of the car, whereas some of the teams may be doing a race distance for the first time in Melbourne. We have been able to balance the car well and I must say that it is a pleasure to be working with Cosworth again - they have been most supportive throughout the testing program and the engine has proved to be very consistent."
