Emanuel Collard has joined the Tyrrell-Yamaha team as their test driver. The 24 year old Frenchman started his racing career on the karts, then he moved from Formula 3 and 3000 to the Porsche Supercup Championship. Collard will start his job at Silverstone (England) in April when the team returns from the Argentine Grand Prix. He will also replace Mika Salo or Ukyo Katayama during a race if they have to miss one this season.
Patrick Head, Technical Director for Williams-Renault, has disputed the argument in the report on Senna's crash on May 1 1994 saying it was a steering failure that caused it. Head said in an interview: "We haven't had the opportunity to look at any of the parts properly, but the conclusion would not tie in with the data we have from the car." He added: "The technical report states the data of the car indicates that the steering was working on impact."
