The Forti-Ford team have announced that Cesaro Fiorio, the former Ligier Sporting director, will join the team for eight
Grands Prix.
Ligier's Team manager, Tom Walkinshaw, will leave the team this year to start his own Formula One team for the 1997
season.
Mark Blundell's debut in the Indy Car series is not going too well. His brakes failed at the end of a straight. He slammed
into the concrete wall with a speed of 200 mph, the car disintegrated. Blundell broke his foot. Blundell said: "I pushed the
brake pedal to the floor and got nothing. I looked to turn into the infield hoping that would send me into a spin because I
knew I was carrying too much speed and it would be a hard hit." The reason why his brakes didn't work is still unknown.
