ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK IN FORMULA ONE
The Sun (UK) reports that Damon Hill turns down a 1 year, 2 million dollar contract with McLaren.
Jordan announces they have no interest in Hill for 1998. They want to keep the same driver line up.
Hakkinen spins and crashes during testing at Monza doing over 300 kph. He didn't suffer any injuries.

Race reviews are encouraged by those attending GPs (although not a necessity). Submit contributions and questions via email to ATLAS F1 (comments@atlasf1.com). Text can be in the body of the mail, or sent as an attached file. Please include a short bio of yourself. The deadline for submissions is Monday (23:00 GMT) for each G.P. issue. All contributions are subject to review by the editors.
