A driver whose times in qualifying are disallowed but who is permitted to start the race poses problems for the SuperGrid. In previous years, when this has happened, the driver has been "placed" last on the grid but has been credited with the time that he attained in qualifying, if for no other reason than it is almost impossible to credit any other time. There seems no reason to change this policy, and so Fontana has been placed 22nd (he would have been 14th) on the grid for the 1997 British GP with a time of 1m23.790. This is all rather irrelevant since he is not eligible for the end of season SuperGrid as he will not have participated in all the 1997 races. Nevertheless...
If the Portugese and European GP both go ahead this season, this edition of the SuperGrid represents the half-way mark of the season. So far, the average of the poles is 1m20.237 (with 107% being 1m25.853), and it is this figure that is used to show the percentage off-pole figure.
Villeneuve is still in top spot, based on both position and time.

Michael Schumacher leads in the World Championship and in the 1997 SuperRace.
Despite having missed two races so far, Panis is still well placed and is likely to remain so, given that his average finishing position should not change too much for the rest of the season.
While there is no clear team at the top of the SuperRace, the bottom positions are dominated by the Minardi, Arrows and Stewart teams.
