Welcome to the F1 SuperGrid and SuperRace for 1996.
To those of you who have not seen the SuperGrid and SuperRace before, the idea is to average out each driver's efforts during the season, using the times and positions that he has attained.
All suggestions, corrections and so on, are gratefully received, but are not necessarily acted upon, subject to the compiler's whims.
The SuperGrid and SuperRace are based on the tables formerly presented by John Taylor in Autocourse.
As with the grid for Spain, the 1996 SuperGrid following the Spanish GP has Williams, Ferrari and Benetton taking up the first three rows, with Damon Hill still in pole position.
Personally, I find it fascinating to see, the further into the season we go, just how close in total time, some of the drivers are: for example, Eddie Irvine and Gerhard Berger are separated by only hundredths of a second on total time, and by thousandths of a second after seven races.
At the rear of the grid, the Fortis still clearly dominate - if that is the right word.
This Super Grid is sorted on Total Time.

Just when it looked like Hill had the entire season wrapped up, Murray Walker must have put the "kiss of death" on him. From having a record of finishing every lap of every race, Hill has suddenly plummeted to 80%. However, he does have the consolation that he still leads the 1996 SuperRace.
Mika Hakkinen highlights the fact that you don't have to have a fast car (comparatively) to be successful.
