1996 SuperGrid and SuperRace

Welcome to the F1 SuperGrid and SuperRace for 1996.

To those of you who have not seen the SuperGrid and SuperRace before, the idea is to average out each driver's efforts during the season, using the times and positions that he has attained.

All suggestions, corrections and so on, are gratefully received, but are not necessarily acted upon, subject to the compiler's whims.

The SuperGrid and SuperRace are based on the tables formerly presented by John Taylor in Autocourse.

SUPERGRID
At this early stage of the season, it is interesting to see that many teams' drivers are close together on overall times, although there are some obvious places where the times are not comparable.

And, while the Williams cars dominate the top of the grid, the Forti cars dominate the bottom of the grid.

SUPERRACE
In a slight variation, rather than including the number of laps completed so far this season in this SuperRace, the final column here ("% LAPS") shows what percentage of the total number of laps so far this season each particular driver has completed.

While there is no surprise that Hill is at the top, it was somewhat of a surprise to see Irvine and Panis in their respective positions. Equally, Brundle's lowly position is odd - until you bear in mind that he was effectively classified as last for the Brazilian race.
