In a change from 2002, drivers do not need to be running at the end of the race, but must have completed at least 50% of the race distance. Also, a driver's worst round will be dropped from their pointscore. On top of those changes, the points system itself has been changed again. Each round is worth a maximum of 192 points. Points table 2: Adelaide (races 1 and 2) and Surfers Paradise (races 1 and 2).

WRC has followed F1 with the change to points for the first eight drivers. Manufacturers points are allocated to the eight highest finishing cars eligible to score manufacturers points, using the same distribution as that used for the drivers championship. For a manufacturer to be eligible, they must enter all the season's events with a minimum of two and maximum of three cars. Even if three cars are entered by the manufacturer, only the two best placed cars entered by each manufacturer will score manufacturers points. A car not registered or ineligible to score manufacturers points does not prevent the next best eligible car from earning those points.
